The status is NOT quo.

I’m leasing my dream car: a 2012 Chevy Volt. Dudes, I don’t even know where to start with my glee about this car. Not only is it amazing in terms of the environment (and will allow me to drive in the HOV lane, which will make my commute bearable again), it’s got so many gadgets and gizmos that I don’t even know what to do with myself. It’s going to take me awhile to figure it all out.

There are so many incentives right now between Chevy, the feds, and the state, I can actually swing the lease payment, which I never thought I’d be able to do given how expensive these cars are normally. I am full of SQUEE about it.

I should note that I paid off my student loans last month, which is how I’ve found the extra cash to do it.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

ideas of what to do with CDs with no cases?

List 'em on eBay anyway. Or Craigslist. Maybe list them as a lot instead of individually.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I've done two loads of laundry, and sort of cleaned up my front room. (This room needs a name. It's the room that you walk right into when you walk in the front door. It contains a desk, filing cabinet, bookcase, table, electric keyboard, and coat rack. It's also where I store my bike. The best I can come up with is "front room.")

I also went grocery shopping, and I thought I bought all the ingredients for dinner, but the stew I was planning to make has beer in it, and I realized after I got back from grocery shopping that the only beer I have is Strawberry Wheat Ale, which I don't think will work too well in a Mexican stew. So, heating up frozen stuff for dinner tonight, and buy beer to make stew tomorrow.

I'm also thinking about sewing new curtains for my bedroom. The ones that are there now are a really boring neutral print. I want a print that has some slate blue and some dark pink, but the only ones that I can find online are way too expensive, so I figure I'll try sewing some. I do know how to sew, and I have a sewing machine, though I haven't really made anything in years, but I figure curtains are just giant rectangles, so I can't screw them up too badly. I think the worst that could happen would be that the lengths of the panels don't quite match up to each other, but that's easy enough to fix, and these curtains are behind a bunch of stuff so that you wouldn't really notice it. I'll go to some fabric stores tomorrow and see what I can find.

Hil, I made curtains for my storage room as my very first sewing project, and they came out great! If I can make good curtains, I know you can.

I need a "front room." That would actually be the best possible solution for "how to keep the cat from running out". I think it's called a "mudroom", but I would call it a "catlock".

This room is bigger than what I think of as a mud room. I'd guess it's about a ten foot square. My apartment is a few rooms of a Victorian house, not really originally designed as an apartment, so the layout is kind of weird.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Emmett's struggling to pry some coconut out of the shell and Matilda just helpfully suggested, "Why don't you flex your sixpack at the coconut, Emmett?"

It should be noted that there was absolutely no snark intended here. I'm pretty certain Matilda actually believed a little judicious sixpack-flexing would totally do the trick. I blame too many viewings of Spongebob and vintage Popeye cartoons, where muscle-bound guys' muscles are always punching out other guys and taking out Nazi squadrons and flipping pancakes and all kinds of wack shit.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

We have $24.99 worth of items in the Amazon cart and literally cannot think of another thing to buy.

ink for your printer?

toilitries?

those are my go to fill out the cart items.

ebay update - 2 of the 7 items are still selling, but 1 of them is at $27, which is awesome.

Pulled out 11 decorative eggs to get rid of, and went through another stack of paper, not as much to get rid of out of that pile, but I can out the various parts away instead of it being out in my living room.
