We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

and the government would totally try to cover up a zombie apocalypse.

That is, in fact, part of the storyline in World War Z.

Well, there was a (stb-expelled) Morgan State student who has been arrested for murder. He apparently dismembered his victim and has confessed to not only that, but, uh, making a meal of the victim's brain and heart. Seriously. [link]

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

In Moneyball, the old school scouts were talking about how you could tell a lot about a player's confidence by his wife/girlfriend. Billy Beane dismissed that idea as nonsense. He only wanted to look at the stats.

Aha, I missed this in the book (unless you are talking about the movie.)

If the zombie apocalypse is starting in Florida, that's a little close for comfort for me in Louisiana. Also, we will be vacationing in Florida next month. (nowhere near Miami though)

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Whatcha doing, aurelia?

Moving everything to the bedroom. What? You want to know why? I made it a condition of renewing my lease that the carpet be removed, hardwood floors finished, ceiling fans installed and the walls painted. So I'm giving them all but one room while I leave town for a week. At some point later in the summer I'll be moving the bedroom furniture into the living room.

I've been trying to get rid of stuff as I go, but I have too much stuff.

Whatever you do, do not click through anything that will show you pictures.

Oh, god! There's been pictures? Yikes.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I did want to know why!

Ah -- that's really smart in the long run, on all counts. That said, there's no way I could get all my stuff in my bedroom. And I only have one other room!

On the way to work today, I don't know how we got there, but my friend asked me, "Do you think we're going to have WWIII?" I said no. "Do you think we're going to have a zombie apocalypse?" I said yes.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Can you guys help me parse this passage?

Gibbon is believed to have suffered from an extreme case of scrotal swelling, probably a hydrocele testis, a condition which causes the scrotum to swell with fluid in a compartment overlying either testicle. In an age when close-fitting clothes were fashionable, his condition led to a chronic and disfiguring inflammation that left Gibbon a lonely figure

Is it a fair inference that the close-fitting clothes exacerbated his problem, but I'm also getting a feeling that his problem was all the more visible because of them, and that's why he's lonely...or does he get lonely because people saw his nutsack in another way and didn't want to talk to him anymore?

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I don't think his clothes were part of the initial problem.

Punishingly Intricate

And the guy on it from Intervention? I don't think anyone ever figured out if the paranoid delusions etc. were there before he started using it, but they were still there after he got clean.

Ha! I was going to mention this ep too. That was really sad and, yeah, the doctors couldn't figure out if his mental issues were there w/out the drugs or if they were caused by the drugs. Shit's messed up.

Also messed up is the story about the guy at Morgan State!

Neither do I. I'm just wondering if it's saying his problem was visible through his clothes (making him lonely) or they were close enough to chafe, which made the problem worse, and it was just a "hard to make friends with weird balls" thing.

Looking at this piece of fanart is the person holding the bow supposed to be Arya from GoT? Is that something we've seen, or is it in the books? I can't work out why the artist didn't just go with Katniss for the same letter.
