"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Oatmeal: So, birds! The fledgling process with my phoebe made me suddenly recognize the fledgling process with the finches. That is, there was a dad finch eating the sugar water and feeding it to his three fledglings, sitting on our fence. And now there's another immature bird who is just sitting on the hummingbird feeder, causing all kinds of distress to the hummingbird who wants on it. I am waiting for it to leave so I can go out an retrieve and refill the feeders, but it is just chilling, waiting for dad to come back with more food. I don't think I realized before just how long the feeding process goes on, even after they've got basic flight skills down. The phoebe chick is flying really well, it just has some landing issues.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I went and got a sassy new haircut and am now cleaning up the house. It should work out.

Yeah, yeah, where's the pix?

flea: dark red

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

...breakfast on the diet not going so well. I don't remember the protein shakes being quite so gross. Ick.

meara, are you low-carbing? I went back on low-carb this morning. Now I want to eat all the French fries in the world.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Kat,

FWIW, I am looking at rentals next month for my move.

Trulia and realtor.com have some good alerts (for new rentals in the areas you specify. I got accounts on both and am getting emails regularly.

The only thing you need to be aware of (since I have a rough idea of the area of country you are in) is to check the tax records of the house/place you will rent if you can. Apparently, local/state laws differ if a home goes into foreclosure while the renter has a lease, but suffice it to say you may get 30 days to get the fuck out.

Zen, I am--I had done it about two months ago, and lost a bit, and kept it off, but it's starting to creep back up and I still need to lose bunches more, so I'ma try. So hard to stay on though. I love me some carbs. But I'm pretty sure my body likes me better when it's getting plenty of protein.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Is there a secret get-rich-fast scheme that involves taking one-in-a-million stock photos that just sit there waiting for that one Powerpoint presentation to make their existence worthwhile?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

What, you've never had a need for a photo of a woman with Hitler hairdo and moustache peeling potatoes in a red dress?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I really kept thinking I had gotten to the weirdest one, and then... WTF.
