A very long but cogent explanation of cricket for americans: [link]
We watched a cricket match in a pub in Ireland. . Which made DH read two books on how it is played and asked a bunch of people around here ( English , Indian , Pakistani) .Not sure he understands it . My friend C ( English ) says it is a lovely place to read a book.
Oo ita, I like that drawing very much.
So we just came home from a bday party. Drama! Earlier in the party Franny accidentally got sand in her friend's eye. Friend was very upset, Franny was not as repentant as she could have been, but things appeared to smooth over. Only not so much. Friend got two other girls to go with her and bury Franny's shoes in the sand. When Franny couldn't find her shoes at the end of the party, the friend came over to her and something like "not so smart now, huh?" Girls! So I went and looked, realized Franny was right, her shoes had been buried, so I went to the other girls and told them to find the shoes. Franny was in tears at that point, which alerted the other parents. Once they realized what was up there was three of us all standing there looking sternly while the girls fumbled in the sand and gave us some story about how they fell in the sand. Grrr.
On the one hand, just little girls being mean in the way little girls can be mean, and the one girl I'm sure felt she was just getting Franny back, and on the other hand, I'm not going to miss this crew when Franny switched schools next year.
Little girls can be so very mean!
So I just yelled at a group of neighborhood kids who were being mean to Frisco. They were hanging out in our front yard (he's four, they are in 2nd and 5th grade) and he went out to ask if he could play with them. After telling him to go inside and play with his sister, the ringleader whispered in everyone's ear and they all ran off, leaving him crying. Anyway, when they came back by, i told them they didn't have to play with him but they can't be rude to him in his own yard and to go somewhere else.
That was okay, right? I was so mad on his behalf but I always worry about yelling at other peoples' kids. (and these are normally good kids but the ringleader is always mean and builds herself up by putting others down)
Sheesh, it's mean little kid day! Yes, that was fine.
That was more than OK Stephanie. It's more important for Frisco that he sees you standing up for him.
And yeah, even nice kids can be mean, and they deserve to be called on it when they are.
Wow. Kids. So mean.
Also, I've discovered that I can watch my youtube subscriptions on Tivo. (Is this new? I knew about Netflix.) The controls aren't very good. And I seem to have subscribed to about a million random puppy videos.
