Shit's all sorts of different now.

No damned money for workbooks for each kid to cut back on the copy paper use, but no damned money to pay for the paper to make the copies you need to make. Such a clusterfuck.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

I had a copier in my garage that I thought was an inkjet and ruined. Imagine my happy surprise when it was a laserjet. It's now in my classroom happily making copies for me (which is saving my printer, somewhat, because previously I'd just print 200 copies). I have scavenged all the paper around the whole school.

I don't have books for my non-fiction course, so I do a ton of articles. It's a problem.

Next year all the paper will be scavenged and gone. I could do what I did before and make some copies at kinkos and then steal reams of paper. But that seems supremely unethical.

Hence, the DC-grant for paper!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I was surprised by a sudden onslaught of thunder, but it turns out to be a huge bunch of fireworks for the GG Bridge's 75th anniversary.

I'm sure Deb is furious about the effect on her cats.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I'm sorry so much is up in the air right now, Kat. I know that would drive me crazy too.

So hey, dcp, I finally got that Barlow lens you recommended! It is awesome. I need to work out how to shoot a little quicker, but the detail on the moon is just stunning. You can see the rim of the lens here because I don't quite have the angles down yet.

Also, Saturn! This is without the Barlow, because with it, it just moved too fast!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Wow, those are gorgeous, Liese!

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

One good thing. As the economy is slowly driven back to the level of the middle ages, the school will be able to hire scribes to hand copy worksheets at a lower per page cost than making electronic copies.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Uh, but nobody does cursive anymore. We can't have scribes without loopy writing.

Speaking of loopy, tonight's nurse is hella perky. And wouldn't give me meds if I refused to change into a gown. Uh, I wear a v neck for a reason. It's comfy and warmer. Newbies.

Trust my rage

I hate uncertainty. Joe told me tonight that he wants to watch the kids during the work day all summer. Never mind that he supposedly has a job and this is 24 hours before the start of summer. And that he now wants me to pay him child support and alimony because he's quitting his job.

And I know I can say no about the child care and the money stuff will get sorted out in court (again) but I have been lying awake in bed since 1:30 just thinking about all the uncertainty. Someone just tell me what is goin to happen and I will prepare for it. But not knowing just makes me want to cry.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I can get the part where if he isn't at work he would choose to leverage that and see more of the kids. But can he really expect you to subsidise that choice?

He needs to find himself a sugar mamma. If you should be supporting him in the style to which he has become accustomed, is he really allowed to change the ground tiles so radically?

It's not like changing custody agreements isn't short on being rife as it is.

Unrelatedly, why is the loose/lose distinction missing so many people? Is it just that the typo is easy to make and even easier to miss in a spell check, or is it really people not knowing which is right?
