I've really got to learn to just do the damage and get out of town. It's the 'stay and gloat' that gets me every time.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I've read about him, JZ. I gotta say, he fills me with a mix of "go you!" and curiosity as to how bad one's allergies would have to be to make hookworms sound like a reasonable trade off.

Seriously, Burrell. My sinusitis is annoying, but with that as an alternative, I'll stick with my Claritin...

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I read about hookworm guy a while ago. It all sounds completely reasonable. Except for the "here, swallow this hookworm" part.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

I've read about him, JZ. I'll admit, during the bad days, I longingly think that some hookworms, leeches, and laudanum would take care of a lot of the health problems I'm dealing with.

Right? But then again, if it works for other autoimmune disorders? That'd be something.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Mine are pretty damn close. I was listening to the episode and flipping back and forth between "EW. EW. EW." and "I wonder if he can still ship to Canada? I've always wanted to see Victoria Island."

Hey, now leeches serve a valid medical purpose! Just not usually blood letting per se. But hmm, what about fire cupping?

I seriously got to back away from the looking up odd medical treatments. I just love looking into that kind of stuff.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Survey question: If you have a 62 page chapter of a German book that was never published in English, would you assume that running an OCRed pdf file through Google translate would work well enough to get you a translation you could submit to a government agency?

Well, there are a lot of medical procedures that actually work that elicit a visceral "eww" reaction. Like maggots to clean wounds, or leeches to help remove excess blood pooling in transplanted limbs and fingers. And fecal transplants. Anyone else heard of that one?

Exactly!

The one time I mentioned this hookworm/leeches/laudanum idea to my (very awesome) naturopath MD, she snorted and said, "Don't even. I know you just want the laudanum. Shut the fuck up, and take your Xanax 'script."
