Now I did a job. I got nothing but trouble since I did it, not to mention more than a few unkind words as regard to my character so let me make this abundantly clear. I do the job. And then I get paid.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

I just realized (thanks, pill pack!!) that I'll be hitting PMS-ville right as my parents get into town. Ahaha, that's gonna be fun.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

My niece is in Oslo and has run out of money. The cash machine took her debit card, and her credit card is about maxed out. This is what happens when she spends all her money paying for her "friends" to party with her. We talked her through her panic attack, and now she's trying to work it out on her own, but I'm on standby in case I have to wire her some cash.

Are you sure about this? That sounds exactly like one of those phishing scams! Heh.

Our wings are not tired.

The first time I traveled out of the country, I was very poor. And I had definitely not realized the impact of exchange rates! I had to call Charlie (my ex-housemate and close friend) and ask him to put money into my bank account. Which, no big except I was on day 6 of a 25 day trip!! Yup, he deposited money a few times during that trip, without complaint and without giving me any deserved lectures.

And that's why all these years later, I pay all of his bills other than his rent. He covered my idiot ass for YEARS. So it's fun "paying him back" now.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Yep, the meltdown on the phone convinced me it was indeed my niece!

Now I need to stop virtually shoe shopping and get something done.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I was thinking the same thing about a phishing scam. I have never heard of a scam --> real life before.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

That is handsome you just can't stop.

I suspect that the reason the scam works so often is that young, inexperienced travelers do end up in trouble often enough that there's a certain amount of believeableness to the situation. Being that said niece actually talked on the phone, and also deferred forwarding money she probably isn't being held at gunpoint or anything. ;)

I am applying for a serious grown-up job. Like, a real job that I could do and they would pay me well! Which, of course, is resulting in a strong desire to start creating shopping lists on Pinterest. I've done all the nitty gritty stuff and now I need to write the cover letter, which is really important for a job like this. Don' wanna.

Some of the best job-seeking advice I got was not to stress over the cover letter too too much, unless you know for a fact that it will be seen by the hiring manager.
