I am not convinced Bachman is human.

Always Anti-fascist!

Everyone does. Or stops for gas. That is literally the first thing I hear when I say I'm from here. Although, probably not anymore. Never thought I'd want to be just hot and boring again.

Librarian Warlord

I need spoons. Because we were going to London, a volunteer took the phone we use for my lost dog, and she had two people call today with solid sightings and has set up a track with the search and rescue dog tomorrow to try and confirm. It's been 5 months since we've had a sighting.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

A quote for those who don't like working in groups:

"Nothing destroys a good idea faster than a mandatory consensus. The lowest common denominator is never a high standard."

This quote comes from Forbes contributing writer Jessica Hagy who suggests that nothing kills a good idea like a committee. While it is important to listen to others, too much advice on how to make something more appealing usually involves dumbing it down quite a bit. If you really believe in your idea and what you want to accomplish, stick to your guns where it's important.

An unapologetically reductionist cartoon about Australian wildlife

In case you're unaware, Australia bears the mildly unfair reputation as a continent brimming with freaky fauna. And as artist Katie Lisk explains of this webcomic, "My boyfriend has decided he wants to move to Australia. I decided to make some scientific depictions of what life there would be like."

Trust my rage

NC is a conundrum to me. I love the Triangle area and the friends I made there. But I have never run into so much outright racism as I did in NC. None of it was directed at me. But there was a lot of conspiratorial "we are all white here so it's okay" stuff that I had never seen before. I know this isn't a racism issue but that experience really soured me on the state, which the small exception of Carborro, Chapel Hill, Durham, and Raleigh (sort of).

One thing. While I don't know the law in detail, I do know that sometimes if you move immediately after a contract is signed, you can get out of it either at no cost or at a comparatively small penalty. A whole bunch of ifs outside my paygrade as a non-lawyer. But if I were a bigwig in that company, I would consult a lawyer who specializes in whatever area of contract law covers that particular contract to see if it can be gotten out of comparatively cheaply, and check NOW.
