The big ADD conference is in SF this year (possibly October? November?), and Tim's group will pay for his hotel and his registration for the conference, so we're talking about going. It's more likely than not. (Except my problem is that I'm going to want to go to the conference, too, because that shit fascinates me. Or, at least, some of it does. Neurobiology gives me a big science boner.)
So -- it could very likely happen this year! It has been TOO LONG.

Fifty Shades of Grey was originally Twilight fanfic, although it was an AU with Bella as a student and Edward as an older (like, 28) businessman who wants her to be his sex slave. The author published it online in fanfic communities, and then published it as an original e-book with the names changed, etc.
Then Vintage or whoever got wind of it, and snapped it up and put all three books out simultaneously. The media is behaving as if women reading erotica is a WHOLE NEW THING and they're calling it, charmingly, "mommy porn."
("Charmingly" should be in sarcasm font, for the record.)
