msbelle, if there's any back-up phone call making any of us can do to help (check with the hospital to see if there are any staff who can help patients and families wrangle insurance companies -- if they do this kind of admit routinely, it's almost certain that they deal with this kind of insurance bullshit routinely; call the other hospital; arrange a grocery delivery or call around for a dogwalker; or any damn thing at all), please let us know.
le n, ugh. It's amazing that your great boss values you rightly and wants to keep you so badly she'll move heaven and earth to do it, but you are so very right to want to leave anyway. Unless she's on track to become the boss of all bosses, and soon, there's no way she can undo all the toxicity. For your own sake, just escape.
Poor Hansen - his mother rejected him. . . but he still grew up to be a top racehorse.

I just hope the green dye someone used to create Hulk the Bulldog is safe....

All wishes for a good outcome, msbelle.
Thinking of you and Mac, msbelle.
So I think my response to everyone today is going to be, "Fuck off" and/or, "Are you fucking KIDDING ME??" I'd better hide in my office.
le nubian, strength and calm to get through this transition.
msbelle, prayers and loving thoughts surround you and Mac.
either that or work with Ari Gold, Jesse.
msbelle, I am so sorry that there is this much stress for you and poor Mac.
I know that 72 hour stay is par for the course, and in many child-oriented psych hospitals, often the parents/guardians are asked not to see the child for the first day, so that (in cases of abuse, which your case is SO NOT) the child can have some breathing room and the caregivers can try to get the story from the child without adult interference....but I haven't heard about an arbitrary no-visitors day.
And I second Matt's thoughts about how much of a wake-up call staying in a psych ward can be. You may recall my 72 hours in one in 2001, and the lack of freedom was horrifying, even though I knew the reasons I was under observation, and had the intelligence to get out, get out GET OUT.
One of my best friends is an art therapist for troubled youth -- she's in MO, but I could ask her if she knows anyone in your area, if you like. She has lots of contacts. (I wish you lived closer, because she is fantastic.)
All my love and best wishes to the both of you.
