Natter 70: Hookers and Blow
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Tell me about these FitBit things. Do I want to get one, now that I am working a day job and am taking the bus and whatnot? I need to get moving around more.
I really like mine. It's definitely helped me move a lot more during the day. You can also track your sleep, weight, blood pressure, and other stuff. You get rewarded with badges.
I'm a nerd for data, though.
Jesse, do you answer a survey or something? Depends on what they're looking for--maybe wear it around the house so you can answer how nice it feels or how it stays or whatever, but note that it's not the color for you?
I hear that accents on the Eastern Shore used to be huge, but by now, there's a couple generations since they built the Bay Bridge, so it's not so much at all (a former roommate grew up out there, and had no accent). Between the bridge creating much more traffic (and weekend homes) and the TV....I find it so sad that regional accents are diminishing so much. Of course, I'm totally one of those people that starts talking like the people around me, even if it's in no way my accent.
The henna crowns are gorgeous!
Also, I totally support eating a box of redhots. Hot tamales slightly less, but if you get a box of Boston Baked Beans, i LOVE those things.

How much entering of data into something would I have to do? Because I'm not good at remembering to update stats. (Which reminds me, I should go tell SparkPeople to stop sending me email.)

Oh, I forgot about this! Maybe? I like mine, but as shrift said, I'm a data nerd. I wore mine for many months, but then stopped wearing it for several months (along with stopping going to the gym, and...). It's very interesting for me to see how variable my fitness can be--like last weekend I walked about 14,000 steps, but some days I don't even leave the house when I'm working from home, and have maybe 2,000 steps! And it tells me how many fewer calories I've burned then, which is...embarrassing.
No entering anything, just occasionally (once a weekish?) charging the fitbit, and making sure it's occasionally near the wireless thing that uploads the data to the website. A little more work if you're doing sleep tracking--you have to wear it, and hit it to stop and start. But otherwise, just wear/carry it.

My sister! I totally have spreadsheets of my laptimes, calculating averages and medians at various splits. Um.
If you go far enough back native Americans are descended from immigrants too - the whole land bridge from Asia thing. But ...
If people walk from Asia through the Arctic Circle, I'm gonna say they get squatters' rights.

Like meara said, it tracks all your movement for you, and uploads it whenever you're close to its base station. If you want to track weight and food, you can, but it's totally optional.

I salute you with a nerd fist jab!
That... sounds incredibly dirty, doesn't it?

Oof, hits me right in the spreadsheet. :)
So sleepy tonight it's ridiculous. Today was a mostly quiet day at work and the most physically strenuous thing I did was pick up a soup bowl!
Oh, and some good news, I guess! Today I was told that I'll be getting a promotion. Don't know yet about compensation or exactly what the responsibilities/expectations are, but hey!
I have to learn how to delegate more and, like, be a mentor.
