Sir? I'd like you to take the helm, please. I need this man to tear all my clothes off.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

We can take off as much time as we want to vote tomorrow, but apparently only two hours are paid. Not sure what that means to salaried workers.

I am, for the record, still in hospital, and dealing with much bullshit. They're coming in to give me repeated small doses of dilaudid, and when I ask them why they think the 7th small dose will do something the 6th didn't, the nurse shifts her weight from foot to foot and says she's really sorry about my pain, and do I want to be rubbed with homeopathic lavender oil? The simplest, politest true thing to tell her is that I don't do fragrances because of triggers, and she says "of course it only works if you're open to it" Yeah. That's what's at hand here.

DO ANY DOCTORS WORK HERE?

Jesus, Mary & Joseph, ita, this is ridiculous. I do not comprehend how you can be going to the same hospital week after week, and every fucking time it's as though you've never been there before! By now they should have your pain doc or your neuro on speed dial!

I hate these people on your behalf.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

OMG, ita. They sent you to hell, instead of the hospital?

I don't get Veterans' Day off.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

"of course it only works if you're open to it"

So just click your heels three times and the migraine will go away? Damn, why didn't your neurologist think of that?

Sorry you're dealing with this bullshit again.

I'm taking Monday off because it's my birthday, so it's kind of like getting Veteran's Day off. (Though schools are out that day so it's not going to be a real vacation.)

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

"of course it only works if you're open to it"

Which means it's all on you if it still hurts! Thanks, helpful nurse. I just don't even.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

There's also this Two Lumps/Doctor Who-related comic: [link] Which I think is hilarious because I am 12.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yeah, way to be all offended that your homeopathic remedy had a physiological reason why it won't work, nurse! Gee, if only you'd come along and healed my friend with your magical thinking earlier!

Also, putatively speaking, looking at airfares for my DC trip, I see that one of the cheaper options brings me into BWI but leaves from DCA. With Buffista help, does that seem logistically doable? I know there's Amtrak or something, and the hotel would be right by Union Station.

Also if I wanted to try to do anything else other than the protest, would peeps be around? (December 17thish - 20thish?) I'm assuming the day of the event (Wednesday) will be totally taken up because it's Native run, and by a guy who wrote a paper on the Navajo perception of time, at that.
