Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

8 or so of us are going to a Maria Cantwell and Denny Heck campaign event in cat costume to ask them to sign a "No Cat Food Pledge". We want them to pledge not only not to cut Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid as part of deficit negotiations. We also want them to oppose such cuts as means of "strengthening" Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid.

Are motto: cutting Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid in order to save them is a trick, not a treat. We don't want today's retirees or tomorrow's to have to live on cat food.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

If I were going to wear a scary costume this year, I'd go as Ann Romney.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Argh. My mother keeps having business trips over Thursday nights, so she wants me to be with my dad/grandmother. But now I'm in this chorus that rehearses on Thursday nights! And I already had an unrelated Thursday night commitment once, so out of four rehearsals so far, I've made two. Now she's gone again next Thursday, and I just can't. So I guess she'll find some evening plans for him, and I'll just get there at 10 for the overnight/morning. Argh!

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I have SO MUCH CANDY in the house right now.

I really hope I get some trick or treaters

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I just got all the information about my health insurance plan for this year. If I need assistance in another language, my language options are Spanish, Tagalog, Chinese, and Navajo.

I swear I remember this.

So, I have no idea if there are trick or treating hours or how many kids to expect. I have a fair amount of candy though.

I was listening to NRP where some homes pay $300 (!!) for candy for Halloween. WTF?

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Parents don't seem to understand that phone service is sketchy and why am I not answering.

ION, got out of work early, so I thought I'd try to get gas for my nearly empty car. Three hours and 9 detours, and two hitched rides later, I walked up my driveway. Neighbor says they'll take me back to my car with a gas can. Three hours later, after being made to endure their (horrible) foster kids and their abusive conversations at said kids (now I see why they're horrible) neighbor starts in about how he hopes my car wasn't towed or ticketed. Well, if we'd gone when you said we were, that wouldn't have been a worry, and no, nothing looks familiar because it's DARK now. I know that sounds ungrateful, but I swear he's deliberately malicious and knows I'm in no position to protest.

The town where my parents live still has about 50% without power. My parents have electricity, but my friend who lives down the block from them doesn't. Most streets are still blocked, and a whole ton of houses were damaged by trees falling on them.
