Amy,
are you trying to jinx us?
half my twitter feed (mostly in NY) are complaining that gmail is down. It is okay so far for me.
It is for my work account.
My work gmail's back up!
Mine, too!
people who were doing the gift exchange - check your email tonight if you have not seen your match yet. I am still waiting to hear from one person.
Nate Silver is best for commentary; but statistically speaking, his model has too many moving parts, which can increase uncertainty. (Every part with a material impact is another chance to misspecify it and introduce a deviation.) that of course is a large part of why he's best for commentary. For an actual forecast, though, I like Sam Wang's Princeton Election Consortium: [link] The site itself is down after Sandy passed through, but the headline forecast is up. (The state polls give Obama a current median of 318 EVs, and Wang gives him a 95% chance of victory. I think that's a bit overstated, but I also think Nate is understating it.)

8 or so of us are going to a Maria Cantwell and Denny Heck campaign event in cat costume to ask them to sign a "No Cat Food Pledge". We want them to pledge not only not to cut Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid as part of deficit negotiations. We also want them to oppose such cuts as means of "strengthening" Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid.
Are motto: cutting Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid in order to save them is a trick, not a treat. We don't want today's retirees or tomorrow's to have to live on cat food.
