Angel: You know, I killed my actual dad. It was one of the first things I did when I became a vampire. Wesley: I hardly see how that's the same situation. Angel: Yeah. I didn't really think that one through.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Although maybe our new mayor would do that.

Our mayor was on Undercover Boss. So that was pretty spiffy. He was even on roadkill duty.

He was actually pretty awesome on the show, and by all accounts he's a good guy. It's just sort of hilarious that he put on a fat suit and fake dreadlocks to pick up roadkill and issue parking tickets.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

why the hell are so many people driving around?

Day off, no public transit? Or, people are often wacky. Take your pick.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

In re my city's elected officials, I sometimes get the feeling they're the kind Molly Ivins referred to: "Half of them are under indictment and half of them are under average."

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Apparently the organizers have plans for every contingency

I am fucking envious of that project management, let me tell you. I'm trying to make the current project I'm PMing rock solid (which includes public arguments with my manager--she wants a detailed task-level project plan of tasks we're not performing and we're not auditing at that level, but SHE WILL NOT READ IT. I have to bring her to my desk to show her stuff, because if I email it, she won't open the attachment. If I print it, I don't know if she'd read the paper. I do get that she's completely e-mail overloaded right now, but it's also a problem. I can't solve it by not sending her important information she says she needs to know. The other business analyst has, like 10 ITEMS in his in-box. Fucking HELL. I had to go to drastic levels just to get to "All read", but only 10? I cannot file that fast. Anyway, my manager needs help. She can't sustain this, but how do you say that? How do you offer help without sounding like a condescending nagging douchenozzle. Email has a use, and if that use is no longer possible, you might as well not have an inbox anymore....and this parenthetical is now longer than the rest...)

LeN, there's a FEMA app for Android. Probably also one for iOS.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Oh dear. My former student is in Long Beach and the last I saw, they were staying through the storm, and she posted a picture on Facebook of the water half way up the living room walls.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

In other news,

Disney just bought LucasFilm. Episode 7 will come out in 2015.

My mother chose to stay and now I have no way of reaching her or anyone else in town.
