More and more I think the Weather Channel calling it a "Superstorm" is correct.
In some ways, it would have been better had DC gotten a direct hit -- not because I wish anyone that much destruction but I suspect it will take repeatedly hitting some lawmakers over the head in their own backyards before they take climate change and emergency response seriously.

I suspect it will take more such disasters hitting the US--eventually people will vote these fuckers out.
Who knows? Maybe Romney will win and Republicans will go back to believing in climate change again since whey won't have a Democrat in the Oval Office to oppose in everything he does.

Sadly all my work is here and I can't justify sitting n the hotel all day looking at pictures online.
The tree outside my apartment, which is growing in the cut-out hillside, 8 feet from my living wall, came down. Now, you'd think the natural way for it to fall would be downhill, and that's the way the canopy was leaning, but I think the winds pushed it uphill. Man, this was the *best* night for that tree to fall!
I am able to watch live coverage on wnbc.com and get audio through my telephone headset! So I look like I am working. whoot!

Sox checked in too. They have a downed tree and no power but it missed the house.

Us too! Very surprised and pleased. Our refugees are hanging out until noon when we're allowed on the roads to see if power has been restored at their place. Hopes are not very high though.

I'm good. Power came back early this morning. Trying to get up the nerve to go downstairs in the basement to check for leaks. Haven't looked at the exterior of the house yet.
