They're not saying how long the subway will be out, but I will be really surprised if anything at all is running for the next few days, and I'm guessing weeks before the system is completely back up. It's in bad shape.

The tree outside my apartment, which is growing in the cut-out hillside, 8 feet from my living wall, came down. Now, you'd think the natural way for it to fall would be downhill, and that's the way the canopy was leaning, but I think the winds pushed it uphill. Man, this was the *best* night for that tree to fall!
