Once the attending says so, it doesn't matter. I have no idea what the resident said on her own, but I did overhear a snippet of the attending on the phone to my doctor saying "We don't think dilaudid is appropriate". You can go fuck yourself, Dr. Morocco. Since your attending couldn't tell me what I should do (she doesn't know my case that well), how can she tell me what I should do? I mean...you know enough that it's not this? Based on something the pain guy and the neuro don't know? What is that new piece of knowledge?

They wouldn't tell me. Maybe it's special doctor magic.

Well, anyway, I'm shutting off my phones because I cannot talk to my parents like this, and going to see how much fun lying down is for 20 or so hours.

I'm thinking it might at least be worth contacting whatever overseeing body the AMA has in place. Turning a patient in obvious pain away from the ER with no treatment because you don't like the one mandated by their pain and neuro specialists sounds like a matter they should be made aware of.
