I forget who said it, but I remember reading an article that argued that the responsible thing to do was to vote for the least-worst major candidate if you live in a swing state, but vote for whatever third-party you agreed with if you lived in a solid state, to get them more funding.

WI is very swingy right now, so I know I'm voting for Obama, Baldwin (still outraged about losing Feingold to that douche Johnson) and Zerban--even if I know there's little chance of him unseating Ryan.

Serial- I remember when we moved here from IL 5 years ago thinking "Yay, swing state, my vote actually matters." But as this election has dragged on, all I can think is "Dear God, will the phone ever stop ringing?" We must get at least 5 robocalls from Republicans and their Super PACS a day, plus a couple live calls a week. On the flip side we get one or two live calls a week from the Dems, plus we get someone knocking on the door about once a month.

Blah blah, ER, blah, pissy doctor, blah, amazing nurse, long philosophical conversation, nice doctor who can't fix tings, blah blah, admit?

The nurse, with whom I must have chatted 30min straight (she was *not* moving, but that's all good) thanked me for being a good patient despite doctors not doing their bit, because this last nice doctor is about to graduate, and I'm contributing to her positive experiences of patients with chronic pan who require large doses of pain meds.

That doesn't get me anything other than admitted, but hey.

This! I also got a polling call where they kept pronouncing a candidate named Lois, Luis. I don't think Lois would have been amused. I corrected the person 3 times before she got it right.

We live in THE swing state, but we don't have a land line, and my cell phone has a 706 (northeast GA) area code still. We mystify robocallers and pollsters alike.

We had girl from the Obama campaign stop by yesterday that had to be in her mid teens (likely helping a sibling or parent) I felt bad for her because not only was it pouring rain, but she was so nervous she kept tripping over her words. (It probably doesn't help that our dog behaves super-aggressive whenever someone is at the door, though the only danger is being jumped on and licked to death) I tried to be reassuring with my "Yes, we'll be voting for Obama on Nov 6th." but I have no idea how she would have dealt with an aggressive Romney supporter. Heck, I don't know how I would deal with one if I was going door to door.
