"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

You mean The Crow, right?

I did.

Quiet morning at Chez Zmayhem as Matilda plays with her new stencil set she got for her birthday, JZ slept in and I nibbled on some thoroughly decadent Nicaraguan cake (Tres Leche).

Because books.

That's a lot of birthdays. Happy day to all of you.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, EVERYONE!!

For some reason, this day was already full, before I knew of all the related birthdays here. I could tell you one famous person birthday I share (everyone looks that up for themselves, right?), none for my mother and sister, but at least two for my father and a litter of puppies. His was always the day when everybody was born.

Because books.

I can't remember who my birthday mates are, but Sara shares hers with Louisa May Alcott, which only excites her because I made a big deal about it, but it's still sweet.

Happy Birthdays, all you birthday people!

My hands are numb from clapping for 2 hours!

One of the signs was

Solve for X 5(X + 2)=25

Runners would actually call out the answer or hold up 3 fingers.

Our cheering station by the Y is awesome. They set up a sound system, and for the first part, it's someone's workout mix, which is good. Then they put on Good Morning Baltimore mix from Hairspray on repeat. Runners really liked it! Plus trays of gummy bears and candycorn pumpkins.

The status is NOT quo.

Happiest of Birthdays, Buffista birthday people!

Our wings are not tired.

The number one reason I consider doing another marathon from time to time is the memory of the great crowd support. People with hoses to run under or trays of fruit they prepared. It was awesome. Some day.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Happy birthday, Matt, Cashmere, and Megan!

My annual fall cold has arrived. So I'll be spending the day watching things like Teen Wolf and Charlie's Angels and drinking oj and hot toddies.

As part of that, I just saw an ad where someone was dressing a woman in the fall trends, which seemed to involve clashing prints, ill-fitting trousers, and high-heels. Is this autumn's trend looking like a hobo with sore feet?

the fall trends

Jesus, I went shopping yesterday when I realized I had holes in the inseam of one of my favorite (VERY OLD) pair of pants (which fall in the category of "work pants" because they are not jeans, although I do wear jeans to work, too). And 90% of the clothes are SO UGLY. I didn't like dolman-sleeve sweaters back in the 80s, and that hasn't changed. Skinny jeans are an abomination unto the Lord (so sayeth the fatass), don't get me started on jeggings, and I really don't need "fun fur" on a damn sweater.

Haaaaaaaaaaate.

I am, however, fine with people wearing high heels with trousers, though I personally don't do it (mostly because I just don't wear high heels).
