"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

but the imperialistic/colonialist stuff is kinda twisted in the steampunk oevre isn't it.

I could get behind a theme of Africans using steampunk technology to drive out the Europeans.

Heh. That would be fantastic.

That's basically what's going on in the Temeraire series, except with dragons instead of steampunk tech.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Thanks for the Silver Goggles link -- I do enjoy reading about Other People's Fights....

And pedestal sinks are the worst. I don't think they make cabinets as small as my current bathroom sink, though.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Wow, fascinating. Gawker outed the Reddit mod who created Creepshots and Jailbait and many of the other unsavory shit on Reddit.

You can feel the flopsweat of the guy when they call him at work.

Under Reddit logic, outing Violentacrez is worse than anonymously posting creepshots of innocent women, because doing so would undermine Reddit's role as a safe place for people to anonymously post creepshots of innocent women.

I am OK with that.

At least one of the Oswald Bastable series. Sorry Michael Moorecock is so prolific that there is no way I can remember the title. But Robur the Conqueror is leading a group of revolutionaries to break the colonial empire.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

It is interesting how people at reddit are upset about this: after they have invaded other people's privacy.

They are. I hate ours.

ION, why am I suddenly craving ALL the burgundy velvet blazers? I shouldn't be browsing Etsy for them, I should wait and see if I win this current round of photo judging, and if I do, I can get this one.

I think I need one in midnight blue.

All the of Bastable series have Bastable, knocked into alternate world after alternate world, turning against colonialism and siding with the oppressed of the earth. Only that does not always turn out well either. Cause Moorcock is into moral complexity. But the Robur one is the Steampunkiest of them.

[Edit]Theliteratary consensus is that Warlord of the Air is the Steampunkiest of the three. Don't know if that is the one with Robur or not. Been a long time since read the series. I think I may well need to re-read the Nomad of the Time Stream trilogy again.
