bt, new yorker has a writeup of it.
I agree with pretty much all of that. The situation itself was a highly political one - the government has a Parliamentary majority of 1, thanks only to the support of a smattering of independents and
the circumstances surrounding the Speaker's appointment, so she has great incentive to defend him and the Opposition to attack him. But Gillard's sustained attack on Abbott went well beyond that. I suspect the conservative side bringing her father into things was the last straw; but there's been misogynist hate-speak against her ever since she got into the position. (In decidedly shady circumstances, it must be admitted.) I'm very pleased to see her smacking it down.

Go, A's! (Man, I hate that apostrophe. Just looks wrong.)
ION, my mother completely melted down on the phone tonight and I hung up on her. I don't see how we can do this unless and until we get her meds straightened out: she's a complete basket case.

Just so you know, this is something JZ frequently commented on during the year.
"The Royals aren't in last place? Gud must be happy!"
she's a complete basket case.
So don't ever ever move in with her!
She needs trained professionals who can keep her on her meds and deal with her crazycakes. That ain't you.
Which, I know is what you want and what you're trying to do. Just validating.
Unrelatedly, I feel an urge to pimp Wordnik all over everywhere. Not here, to the choir, but out there, with the unwashed lumpenprole (which isn't really in their system.
