Oh, Frank, I'm sorry. May it be peaceful for all of you.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I have been able to answer questions and solve problems for the manager I would like to work for (in a different department) over the last 2 days. YAY!

The job may actually be posted before the end of the year - so awesome.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Frank--I hope for the most simplicity for your family.

Trying to do proactive damage control here at work. Boss will likely be on a tear about the schedule when he comes in, and frankly--I don't know the answer. Must work out what the questions are before he does, though.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

Frank, all kinds of ~ma to you and your family.

Frank, you and your family are in my thoughts. I'm sorry about the turn of events.

I came into the office today. My manager's boss is here this week and I haven't met the guy yet. But now that I'm here, he is in another building stuck in a conference room all day. Oh well.

Coming in also reminds me why I'm so much more productive at home. Too many voices here. Too many distractions. And it is cold. I really like having full control of my environment.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Frank, I'm so sorry. And Scrappy, hoping for the best for your family as well.

Frank, lots of warm thoughts and ~ma for you and your family. I'm so sorry.

ita !, good luck! Kick some ass.

msbelle, hoping that job opens up and scoops you right away from your DB boss.

Amy, hope you get the job and that your allergies ease up.

Frank, best of wishes that everything is as easy and good as it possibly can be.

I am so spoiled by Amazon Prime and places like Zappos that I am ridiculously irked by things that are so first world. For example: I ordered a new coat and a dress from Land's End on Thursday. Two day shipping was only $5, so I thought "sure, I"m impatient. Bring it!" That was Thursday. They finally sent me an email TODAY saying it had been shipped. So two-day shipping starts now...which means I'll get it a week after I ordered it.

In contrast, I ordered something from Amazon Prime yesterday (Monday). Got an email today that it has been shipped and I will have it tomorrow. ...this is so why Amazon is winning (though possibly why they're not making money)

Also why there is such massive turnover in their warehouses, not that I know Lands End to be better.

Yeah, the downside of the overnight shipping is that the staff in the Amazon warehouses is treated very poorly.

Which won't, I'm afraid, prevent me from ordering a Paperwhite Kindle. Betsy got one and she says it's fantastic, far superior to the Kindle Fire for reading.
