I worry, but I'm trying to be positive about the prez race, and worry about the more local races and ballot measures instead.

Also, ARGH. I bought new shelves, and boxes to put on the shelves, and the boxes don't quiiiiiite fit. Like, 1/4" too big (and since the point was to pull them in and out to get at the stuff, shoving them in until they fit isn't a solution). Damn you, IKEA!

However, I did just eat strawberries that I filled with pumpkin cream cheese. And realized why the pumpkin creamcheese is so delicious: the ingredients are cream cheese, pumpkin, sugar, brown sugar, and some other kind of sugar. In that order.

Also: roommate's coworker is having a cupcake party on Wednesday. I want to make some fall cupcakes. Was looking at recipes--pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese (brown sugar? pecan? maple?) frosting, or filled with maple mascarpone (but then what do I put ON them?) I love filled cupcakes, but am never sure how to handle filling vs. frosting.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Nate Silver is my political wooby.

DH has a telephone interview for the Seattle job on Thursday. So far, the live interviews are Cincinnati (the 16th) and trying to get him to MA the week of the 22.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Jesse, I used to give my mother art books to look at, but mostly she watched tv. sigh.

Yeah. I mean, I mostly watch tv with my unscheduled time, and I can do anything I want!

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

There's not much to worry about in my House race, because our rep is a giant tool and will win re-election.

Jesse, thanks for the reminder about board money. I just sent some your way.

Now tagless for your comfort.

We're dealing with a tough senate race here between Baldwin and Thompson. I'm soooo glad we dumped cable before the election.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Oh lordy meara, your post simultaneously gave me sugar shock and left me craving pumpkin cupcakes.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Well, I guess I'm sending Pete to TJs in the week!

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I bought a pork tenderloin at TJ's on Friday, and today I bought baby potatoes, green beans, carrots, and a couple dried figs, and put them all in with the pork and some red wine. It's in the oven now and I really hope it comes out good, because I'm huuungry.

And now you all have made me want pumpkin bread. Maybe I'll make that this week, I have a couple of cans in the cabinet (even though it's probably squash, most canned pumpkin is squash).

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah, now I'm wondering why I made soup with my extra butternut, and not bread!
