You're wrong about River. River's not on the ship. They didn't want her here, but she couldn't make herself leave. So she melted... Melted away. They didn't know she could do that, but she did.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Jesse - is 20 minutes about the extent of his focus now?

I haven't seen him do anything for 20 minutes in years, really. I mean, he'll sort of watch tv, but dozes off and/or wanders off a fair amount.

I hate car repair. And when I figure out what my repair costs over the past 5 years have been (all mostly on systems that just wear out, though there have been a few oddities- further back it was all usually under $500/year,) it would take me about a decade to come up to the cost of a new-to-me car, at which point it would start having the same wearings-outs. Which is in-line with my thinking, but UHG.

Add that and my FUCKED UP schedule tomorrow and I'm just cranky. And now I have to go wish my dad happy birthday.

Because books.

Jesse, have you thought of stuff like Play-Doh? I mean, I love to play with it, although I get that some people might think it's too juvenile. But it's tactile, so I think maybe it would take longer to bore him?

I have a job interview tomorrow, for a doggy daycare place! Getting paid to play with dogs would be awesome. Any ~ma you can send this way around 10 a.m. tomorrow would be much appreciated.

Ooh, that sounds fun! Good luck.

Yeah, that would be great for me! But he's increasingly grossed out by messy hands -- like, he doesn't like to eat with his hands so much anymore. The brain is a mystery, man.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

the trend?!?!? my god the trend!

I KNOW. It freaks me out a little, although I still believe Obama's got the election sewn up.

I wonder what he does at the day program -- I'm sure they have everything there, but of course I only get part of what my mother gets from the staff, so I basically have no idea!

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I am so glad I'm not the only one who worries about the election. Luckily my DH does not, so I make him tell me over and over again that it's going to be OK.

not that we actually want to be pregnant while also chasing a 1 year-old

Uh yeah, BTDT

Jesse, I used to give my mother art books to look at, but mostly she watched tv. sigh.

I worry, but I'm trying to be positive about the prez race, and worry about the more local races and ballot measures instead.

Also, ARGH. I bought new shelves, and boxes to put on the shelves, and the boxes don't quiiiiiite fit. Like, 1/4" too big (and since the point was to pull them in and out to get at the stuff, shoving them in until they fit isn't a solution). Damn you, IKEA!

However, I did just eat strawberries that I filled with pumpkin cream cheese. And realized why the pumpkin creamcheese is so delicious: the ingredients are cream cheese, pumpkin, sugar, brown sugar, and some other kind of sugar. In that order.

Also: roommate's coworker is having a cupcake party on Wednesday. I want to make some fall cupcakes. Was looking at recipes--pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese (brown sugar? pecan? maple?) frosting, or filled with maple mascarpone (but then what do I put ON them?) I love filled cupcakes, but am never sure how to handle filling vs. frosting.
