I'm a single undead gal trying to make it in the big city. I have to start somewhere and they're evil here. They don't judge. They've got necro-tempered glass. No burning up. A great medical plan, and who needs dental more than us?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

OK, after all the talk of monthly cooking, I'm sort of doing it! Or a lazy single person's version of it, anyway. Currently cooking a potato-kale gratin, roasting leftover butternut squash I'm going to make into soup, and defrosting tomato sauce to put in some strombolis I'm going to make with dough I also bought at TJ's. Oh, and I'm going to make an apple crisp next. Seasonal!

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Jesse, that sounds delicious! I'm so happy it's finally soup season.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

not just the doctor's definition of "sleeping though the night,"

Yeah, I'm still mad about that, by the way. 5 hours = "the night" MY ASS.

My kids were the opposite of that. #1 didn't sleep more than 2 hours at a time until we Ferberized him at 10 months. #2 started sleeping 10 hours straight at 5 months with no parental intervention whatsoever. (#1 also gave up naps at 18 months, meanwhile #2 has been asleep for almost 3 hours this afternoon.)

Oh god. Two hours? That's just miserable.

Rose is actually a pretty good sleeper, which I fear means that our next kid will never sleep at all.

Because books.

Everyone can hate me, but all my kids slept well. It's not impossible. Caveat: I didn't breastfeed, though, which probably has something to do with it.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

so realtor apparently went to the house and the furnace will not come on. he supposedly tried every trick in the book.

he also said the water was on for the washing machine and he is going to have a handyman look at it.

I do not get what is going on. HVAC company will take a look at the furnace, so we will see.

Ugh, le nubian. What a pain in the ass!

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

No shit. I suppose it is possible that both things are random. But I don't believe it.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

My kids were the opposite of that. #1 didn't sleep more than 2 hours at a time until we Ferberized him at 10 months.

I read that first as "#1 didn't sleep more than 2 hours at a time until we Febrezed him at 10 months."

Yeah, how does stuff break if no one's using it?
