Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Note to self: "business casual" for a function where senators and admirals are in attendance does not, in fact, include trouser jeans.

You should have told people it was an homage to Rand Paul on the Daily Show!

I've never heard jibes about teachers being typically stupid. New one to me.

Oh, that's classic bullshit -- "those who can't do, teach" and whatnot.

Also, I was going to say something about homework being marked check/check-plus/check-minus in my experience, but it's possible I can only remember grad school at this point, and it's likely that grad school is different from high school!

THERE WERE NO GRITS AT THE MARKET. I am bereft. Just spinach and empanadas today, I still have apples from last week.

Now I need to clean. I don't wanna.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Mmm, creme brulee. Also, now I want rice pudding.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

THERE WERE NO GRITS AT THE MARKET.

Oooh. I think I'll have grits for breakfast. Yum!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Oh, that's classic bullshit -- "those who can't do, teach" and whatnot.

That, of course, I'm familiar with--but I've never heard it at a grade school level. That's a university and up thing, where the teacher is presumably hiding from being tested on their ability to write novels/code/psychoanalyse and instead tormenting the talented folk that are going on to actually do something useful with their lives.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

It's cold here today, so I think this will be a good day to make a big pot of split pea soup.

Also, now I want grits.

Fair enough. I have heard the "teachers only need to be a grade level above their students" thing before. Also obvious bullshit, of course.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Trouser jeans notwithstanding, it was a pretty cool thing, with all sorts of folks in uniform, and former Secretary of State Schultz and Senator Feinstein used swords to cut a huge cake. Turns out it was the formal welcome of the city of SF to the Navy for Fleet Week. But my sister hadn't realized that, and the invitation really did say "business casual".

So I got to meet the sheriff of SF and a couple of city department heads, and the Navy Drill Team. These guys: [link]

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Man, I wanna use a sword to cut a huge cake.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I woke to find that my cold has moved into the hacking cough stage. I probably shouldn't go stand in the cold to watch the Steppenwolf vs Goodman flag football game, huh? Hrmph. And I bought a Goodman hat this week just so I could wear it with my Steppenwolf sweatshirt.
