You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

While I was in the US, I received money from Australia on occasion, both as direct transfers and as cheques in Australian dollars. The only problem I had with it was that in Australia, double-crossing a cheque means "not negotiable", i.e. can't be cashed, must be deposited; while in the US it means "cancelled". The city branch refused even to try presenting the cheques; I had to deposit them at the branch near our home (who had no problem with any of it). I don't recall if there was any kind of currency conversion fee.

Localistas, they're closing the Michigan Ave onramp to LSD at Oak Street today until mid-November: [link]

Oh man. Oh man. I'm so glad I don't go that way anymore.

Punishingly Intricate

Wow, so Bob's place has been on the market for a week and there was already an offer on it. Kind of ridiculously low, but still when it was on the market before (2009/2010) it didn't get a single offer. I hope this is not a fluke!

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I'm so glad to hear Scrappy's Mom's news -- needed something good today. Found out that my contract job ends Nov 1st-ish, instead of another 3 month extension due to budgetary cutbacks, et cetera.

It's not like I wanted this for a Forever Job (not that they have those any more) but it would have been nice to avoid the stress of job-searching and the uncertainty thereof for a couple more months right now. So I'm a bit situationally depressed much more than I would otherwise have been, I guess.

Librarian Warlord

Yay for Mom of Scrappy!

lisah, probably not a fluke since mortgage rates are so incredibly low. It's why we're buying a new house and why we expect to have this one sold in less than two weeks.

I'm sorry, Theo. That's a gut-punch. Sending you speedy finding next gig, and may it be awesome in every way you want it to be.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Ah, Theo, I'm sorry. I hope everything pans out well, but how stressful. DO NOT WANT.

Scrappy, I am glad to hear the news about your mom; it seems very positive!

(Not really here, just checking in. Bye!)

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Yay for your good news, Scrappy!

I'm sorry about your job news though, Theodosia. I wish we could have a Good News Only day once in a while.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I wish we could have a Good News Only day once in a while.

God, right? Sorry, Theo.

I think the main woman on Call the Midwife kind of looks like my grandmother. I mean, obviously a bunch of it is styling, but I think she really does.
