Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Sounds like you're in a no-win situation.

Who doesn't hate you if you escalate over them? I'm under instruction to be all business with the users that escalated, but nah. That's not how I work. I'm not going to do them favours or stuff, but I'm a sympathetic ear, I take them seriously, and I agitate in their favour over IT's, because no one else will. I consider that my job responsibility as a Business Systems Analyst. To be the avatar for the business when talking to IT, and the avatar for IT when talking to the business, but using the same language as everyone else in the room.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yup, that's absolutely it, and a vital role at that. But you know what you can't do? Magic.

Ah, well.

I just called a co-worker for something, and he said "Cool cool cool" as he was signing off. I freaked! I was all "Wait! Don't hang up! You watch COMMUNITY????"

And then we blabbered mindlessly for five minutes (at some point previously he took a picture of my Abed and Troy mug and posted it online...and I think that's hysterical), and now I'm going to drive the fancy car back to the dealership and I will consider the abbreviated work week to have ended on an uptick.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Thank God for Community, clearly. It saved the ass end of your week.

Which truly, utterly sucks, otherwise. There's just no way ita ! deserves a come to Jesus talking-to. I would find it less surprising and inappropriate to find that up in Heaven Jesus was right this minute getting a come to ita ! talking-to.

I just had an interesting email exchange with a former co-worker from the Division of Crazy (she never had to deal with Rage Nurse, but she did have Creepy Doctor Old Enough To Be Her Grandfather Who Stood Too Close To Her Desk And Smiled Too Much All The Fucking Time). For the last few months she's been working at one of my old jobs in Pediatrics, for people whom I like and respect and who don't think I suck either, but she just confessed to me that she's looking elsewhere already, after less than a year.

Why is she looking elsewhere? It turns out that there's just not enough work and too much downtime.

I just... what. I don't remotely begin to understand those words in that order. What crazyland planet does this woman come from? I mean, okay, she's Canadian, but the Canadian Buffistas have always struck me as just as good at slacking as anyone else.

She's agreed that if she gets the new high-intensity crazy-paced OT-requiring job she wants she'll rec me for the one she has now, and we've both agreed that if I get her old job I'll rec the other former co-worker who's still stranded sharing a cubicle with Rage Nurse for this job. If we network this thing right, we could work out a giant game of admin musical chairs that keeps us all happy forever.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That would be exciting, JZ!

I roasted the shit out of these potatoes and they are fucking fantastic and I have prosecco and it is Friday.

The end.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

We stopped at Target on the way out of town to get birthday present for tomorrow's party. The plan was BK after here for dinner, then the drive with music and angry birds if mac wants to play. BUT he has flipped out in Target about a toy he wants and so now I am sitting in the parking lot waiting as he pouts in front of the store.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

You know I don't think there is a boss on earth who if you to her and say "I don't have enough to do to fill my day" will fail to find you some extra work.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Oh, dear, Mac.

We had the tour. It went... okay. My mother was convinced when I picked her up this AM that it was a nursing home and I was lying to her and this was all a big scam to abandon her lock in a room smelling of urine and ammonia.

But I got her there, repeating over and over that it wasn't a nursing home, we were just going for a visit and to have lunch, and and and and.

Lunch was fine but she hated the special she ordered (vegetable stuff sole with wild rice and steamed chard) and ordered a burger instead (which was excellent, thank fuck). And we had the tour and she thought the apartment was too small and didn't like the beauty salon (I fear because the woman there wasn't white and I was afraid to ask). Quizzed the tour guide mercilessly.

Still is convinced "We're not ready for that yet," (she's 81!). When I got them home she wanted to know if I would buy a two-family house with them and live with them instead. I said no.

Dad would move tomorrow if he could. Mom's ... god only knows. I suspect the only solution is to get her to agree once, and then run with it.

::goes off for dinner and wine with a friend::

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Or....just run with it. It sounds great!

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Dad agrees and your mom's vote frankly is a bit impaired right now. I say run with it.
