My mother confuses me. She just emailed me that my passport had the year of birth wrong. Uh, no? It says '75, not '76. I go look at the last time I sent them a scan and...it's high enough quality that it clearly is '75. BESIDES, I have travelled through 4 countries on this passport in the past 7 years, YOU WOULD THINK SOMEONE'D NOTICE!

Or did that not clarify matters?
Clarified butter?
On the flip side, NYPD did catch the guys who were vandalizing cars and stealing bikes in my Brooklyn neighborhood a few weeks back, so it's not like the whole department is just sitting on their hands waiting for 9/11 part 2.
Sure they are not doing nothing. But it does seem like some of this becoming national and international cops is poor prioritization. Wasting resources they could use to do their own jobs to do someone elses's, and do someone else's badly. it is a critique of the institution - not of every single cop. But it really is terrible that burglary is such a non-priority they are not even interested when given the address of stolen property. And if it were because resources were tight that would be one thing. But at the same time nothing will be done about burglaries they have an office in Israel. The fact that they have not gone out of business and still do crime fighting does make this something not worth criticizing.
Some of the girls from the roller derby team we beat last weekend? The got to cover John Scalzi in buttercream frosting on Neil Gaiman's lawn. How is that fair???
I stopped counting at 80 hangers. Good lord.
We are babysitting the dojo kids for the first time in a long while. The baby boy I used to watch is now 4 and in pre-K. His baby sister will be 2 in January. They are so big. Kids grow up WAY too fast.
I'm still trying to imagine what one might describe as "figuratively fried octopus".

An octopus who's just too tired to care?
They fry a squid that's missing two tentacles.
