Wash: Don't fall asleep now. Sleepiness is weakness of character. Ask anyone. You're acting captain. Know what happens you fall asleep now? Zoe: Jayne slits my throat, and takes over. Wash: That's right. Zoe: And we can't stop it.

Go out anyway Tom. It's better than staying home and letting your issues take over.

ETA: Note to self. Follow your own advice more often.

Ha, I was just going to say I should follow that advice when I saw your ETA.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

KATE! How could this have happened? As if you didn't have enough stress. Good gravy.

(I keep hearing Corb Lund's voice giving advice on how to fix your ceiling. NOT HELPFUL.)

Can you exchange your washer/dryer for a more suitable one? Same with the lawnmower?

Can you delay the move until the ceiling gets fixed/Mark gets back from Germany?

I wish I were there to help some more! I hope that it's the seller's fault, and that they can pay for the repairs, and that they can be done soon.

ETA: Tom, I hope you can get out, too. Hunkering down in the house never does me any good. Not that I don't do it, but I always feel better when I force myself to get out.

Cash, that is awesome! Congrats.

Kate, a world of no way. I'm so sorry. I'm glad you're feeling slightly better today. I don't know from house damage, but it sounds like I should be pulling for dry wall, so I will.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

FOOTBALL what the hell.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

There isn’t much of redeeming value here... If you enjoy inappropriate laughter, however, the first time the beast Hulks out is among the funniest moments within the new fall pilots—including the comedies—so at least there’s that.

From an AVClub article reviewing the new Fall pilots; the above refers to "Beauty and the Beast"

Based on the above and the previous installment:

I think the only shows I will try are: Last Resort, Elementary, (giving it the side eye the whole time), Hunted, Nashville, Vegas.

Where is a new, *good* SciFi/Fantasy show?

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I had oomph for today, but then, football.

However, that room also has the boxes and boxes of ancient receipts that I stashed during the bank inspection, so I am sorting through those while I watch. It is totally a perfect football activity. I can unfold and right the receipt while I'm watching the play, then glance at it and file it in between plays. I've already gotten through a box.

Sorting receipts is weird, because it's just this detritus of your life. Where you were, what you were doing. And it comes in drifts, so there's a strata of June 2010 when I was at camp, and then a strata of tour receipts. There's quite a lot of info you could extrapolate from these.

Also, what am I going to bring for lunch to work tomorrow? I have my crockpot dinner planned for while I'm at work, but I can't live off Arby's and Chester's Chicken like I used to now.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Hey ita !, there's a groupon for an Asus tablet today.

Tim has been thinking about a tablet, and he even went to Best Buy to look at that specific Asus tablet after checking Consumer Reports. And then he didn't get it because he started wondering if he would need Microsoft Office (despite the existence of Open Office and Google Docs). t edit (Because he wants to totally get rid of his desktop PC and just use a tablet as his primary computer.)

But then I showed him the Groupon deal, and he jumped on it. I forsee a LOT of Angry Birds in his future.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Apparently the answer to the question of what I was going to do today was "nothing." I mean, I guess I still could, but eh.
