Don't you just love this party? Everything's so fancy, and there's some kind of hot cheese over there.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

The more I read, the more it freaks me out, to be honest. It makes me feel inadequate in a million ways.

Freaked out is totally natural. Minor surgery or not, invasive placement of devices is still invasive. The only calculus you really need to figure out is will the inconvenience and pain of the procedure be balanced out by enough pain relief. I am sure the battery pack and paddles sounds extra scary, but in truth a medical device is a medical device.

Can you find other patients who have had it and how much relief has it allowed?

Also, did I skim this, have you found out yet if your insurance will cover it?

Recovery is a luxury, yet not. It is also something that you will likely have to do.

Can you get a second opinion?

In other medical news, Grace's DME company has been sending her enteral supplies to our old address. I updated my address with the company's respiratory branch, but apparently they are not connected with the enteral side. Oh okay. At least two boxes of g-tube supplies have just gone missing?

They are sending more supplies tomorrow.

Also, one of the meds Grace takes (Singulair, granule form) is being discontinued because a generic is coming. Oh okay. But it means we can't get it anymore. AWESOME.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

ita, we will just have to all chip in and get you a manservant.

I was going to suggest a rolling briefcase, but manservant is better.

Kat, that's infuriating. Will the generic not be covered by your insurance?

I heart Clinton. Arithmetic (bitches)!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Heh, the Washinton Post called Clinton "the hoarse whisperer to the middle class."

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Comparing and contrasting the audiences between the two conventions, I was struck by the fact that folks of color do in fact exist.

It's so shameful. I don't get how it is that a presidential candidate can look out into a sea of nothing but white faces and not think, "something is wrong with this."

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

But white is the color of real Amurricans. People of other colors may be real Amurricans but it is up to them to prove it. So I'll bet Willard Mitt Romney looked out and did not see a sea of White faces. He saw a sea of real Amurricans. (The mispelling is deliberate.)
