I'm glad to hear you've moved and are getting some Noah time, Kat.
Your mention of bike riders made me do some reading--bike accident right by the UCLA ER? Maybe the fault of the police, maybe the fault of crappy organisers and fixies with no brakes? I'm gonna read more. But it did lead me to this bill that's ready for the Governor which mandates a minimum passing distance and what to do when you don't have it. I hope that it passes, and I'm glad I know what the current law is (safe distance). Ending up with bikes on the road in my neighbourhood where there isn't always room for two cars going in opposite directions--well, it doesn't make it less frustrating when traffic's backing up and you're the one right behind the cyclist, but at least knowing what's allowed makes a difference.
Theo, I'm sorry for your loss.
eta: Amy--it was the Critical Mass bike ride.
And in addition to Critical Mass rides, there is also this:
It’s been months in the making, and now the all-women Clitoral Mass bike ride is happening tonight. Hosted by the Ovarian Psycos Bicycle Brigade, the women are expecting more than 300 women to attend
Women or women-identified, which to me makes it weird that they're so labelled by body parts.
