"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

which is a shame, Hil.

I agree with you and the nation should be embarrassed.

I dunno--we're talking in the near future? I could totally see a Latino president, provided he was someone without an accent (if he had an accent, no way). They're a huge and growing part of the population. I think a Jewish one would be less likely if only because there are fewer Jews. Muslim hella unlikely. Female, possible. Single and childless, no way (possibly married and childless. Possibly). Gay? I think not anytime soon, but maybe in 50 years.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

James Buchanan was single and childless, I'm pretty sure.

Wikipedia says Buchanan was our only lifelong bachelor President.

I think in today's "family values" climate, a President without a wife and kids would be a very very tough sell.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Shoot these days, what about a fat president? An ugly president? A differently abled president?

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I am ready to shake one of my students long distance. She is fucking up really badly. She had to make these changes in the last chapter of her diss or she will not get her degree. She is resistant to the changes (probably because she isn't the best conceptual thinker I have ever met), but she thinks her difficulties writing the diss are my fault.

nevermind her peers who also have me as chair have never had the problems she has had.

If she does what she needs to do and I don't choke her out by the 15th, she will have her degree and I can wash my hands of her.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Good question. We've had all of those already, but nowadays, I'm not sure.

Chris Christie wants to be President. I think he would be a tough sell. The fat jokes are just so awful already.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

One of the weirdest aspects of life is that I feel like pop culture is more capable of reflecting my life and world while political culture is increasingly less likely to.

I don't fucking know what to do.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Pre-television we did.

I think his policies are a tougher sell for me personally. Clinton was not exactly a svelte man.

A week or so ago an NPR show did a thing on Paul Ryan being gen x and if that will help him. Anyone who votes entirely based on generational ID should be disenfranchised.
