Shoot these days, what about a fat president? An ugly president? A differently abled president?
Good question. We've had all of those already, but nowadays, I'm not sure.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Chris Christie wants to be President. I think he would be a tough sell. The fat jokes are just so awful already.
One of the weirdest aspects of life is that I feel like pop culture is more capable of reflecting my life and world while political culture is increasingly less likely to.
I don't fucking know what to do.

Pre-television we did.

I think his policies are a tougher sell for me personally. Clinton was not exactly a svelte man.
A week or so ago an NPR show did a thing on Paul Ryan being gen x and if that will help him. Anyone who votes entirely based on generational ID should be disenfranchised.
The only two recent politicians with disabilities that I can think of are Bob Dole and Max Cleland, and with both of them, it was caused by a war injury.

I have to say, simply the fact he went to my college the same time as me is enough to make me not vote for him.
Yup. Kneejerk reaction. I own it.
t edit That's not because of his age; it's because I remember what an astonishingly high percentage of students were total douchebags. And his fraternity was one of the rape-ier ones.
Yup. Tarring him with a broad brush. I own it.
Like, someone with a Spanish name who could speak Spanish fluently would totally freak out a huge segment of the population.
You are surely right, but after living in Florida for 32 years it seems so odd. Of course all of it is just wrong. The sexual orientation, attractiveness, religion, ethnicity, etc. of people is so irrelevant to my decision on whether to vote for them.
JZ for President! If I wasn't living in a swing state I would write her in.

Well, there's certainly a huge bunch of soldiers these days with war injuries--give them 20 or more years (I mean, Bob Dole wasn't Bob Dole RIGHT after the war), and they might be on the national stage
