My parents have no power, but no street flooding.

Listening to NPR report from the parishes south of NOLA was worrisome with water already over levees and at least 12 more hours of rain expected.
I heard that on the way in this morning, too. So the first thing I did when I got to work was to check in here and FB to see if smonster and Nora and Tom had checked in.
smonster, I would wait.
after reading through cookbooks last night all I want to do it cook and bake muffins. (ok, I also want to get a mani/pedi).
More stuff I can't say on fb - it is a bit weird to be "the person I know in NOLA." I mean, I am so greatful for all the well-wishes, but boy am I hearing from some people I haven't heard from in a looooong time. And odd to know that my timeline is being watched in a way that it isn't normally. NB: I am absolutely not talking about my Buffistas! Y'all are my peeps and my family.
I don't know if I'm being clear. It isn't bad, and I'm not judging, just an odd feeling.
The water over the levees is in Plaquemines Parish, which is a coastal parish.
Yes, Plaquemines Parish is in a bad way right now. Send your prayers/thoughts to those folks instead of/in addition to us, because we are pretty much fine.
Glad your folks are doing OK, Dana. I'm in touch with Daisy's family, and they also have power and are doing OK. Our front door is starting to ooze water, which is kind of annoying but not really an issue.
Also, I am happy to have a Chromebook so I can still post on the internets over 3G even when my home internet line is down.

Happy birthday, meara and Jen K!
smonster and Nola, I'm glad you're doing OK.
I got a few messages like that after the Giffords thing. I think because Arizona and politics make people think of me, but maybe it's being used to East Coast geography too. My thoughts are with New Orleans...too bad it's not just because of Treme starting up again next month.

Kind of? I just feel a little self-conscious, I think.
Nora, is the wind blowing the rain in the door? I guess the winds are shifting.
Okay, self. Do dishes, take meds, and either watch more Nikita or do something productive.
