And you're sure this isn't just some fanboy thing? 'Cause I've fought more than a couple pimply, overweight vamps that called themselves Lestat.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Mushrooms have lots of protein...

eta: Ok, a reasonable amount, at least.

Because books.

They do?! That's awesome, because I love mushroom pizza and mushroom stroganoff.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

On Atkins, I ate a fair amount of pepperoni and deli ham for "hand food," which is how I think about stuff that doesn't really have to be prepared (but can be!).

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

They have less than meat, I think they're about 2-3% protein. They generally have more than plants. (Side note: fungi are evolutionarily closer to animals than to plants.)

OK, that's just weird.

I'm glad I like mushrooms, though.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

For quick food when I'm doing low-carb, it's deli meat, cheese, already-cooked bacon (keeps well), eggs, and nuts.

I guess it's good that I'm not a vegetarian then?

information libertarian

We get high-protein pasta from Barilla sometimes. It's okay, pasta-wise; it wouldn't be as good as regular pasta with a delicate sauce, but with something hearty it makes no difference.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Almonds are really good for snacking.

Since we're on the subject of food, this is an interesting post on the incredible variation in how we absorb energy from food: [link]

Really well-written, too.
