Okay, I need design help. I have to do these T-shirts today, and my head hurts and I'm freaking out about work, and I couldn't be less inspired if I were in quicksand.
I have a number of different photographs that I need to add text to similarly, so that there's some design unity to the shirts. And then I need to shrink and collage all those photos for my sister's shirt, because I'm a goddamned idiot.
I know, because I'm on tumblr, that just typing onto a photograph is not good enough. That shit looks low rent as hell when I do it. I need design tips.
What I think I know:
- either bold or a thick font is good
- outline or drop shadow will help clarity
- maybe put the text in a box so I don't have to work out what colour is legible on 7 photos?
How can I make this not suck?
I'm so fucking overwhelmed right now I'm on the brink of tears, honestly.
At least I got the emails I needed for work God, that was stupid...
OOH! That soda fountain dress comes in a lot of different colors [link]
I love the ice and the grape.
All of that sounds right, ita !. All 7 photos, with similar text, are going on one shirt? Or each photo with similar text will be on a different shirt?
Could you greyscale the photos so you didn't have to worry about color consistency?
I need some of you to come help me clean my house.
I need some of you to come help me clean my house.
As long as you come help me clean mine!
There's going to be one shirt with all 7--that one doesn't have to be legible or anything--it's mostly just gesture, and all of us will be wearing a shirt with just a picture of us and her, and the quote.
I just realised that the text doesn't need to be
on
the picture, does it? That might solve that issue....
I'm still largely overwhelmed, and irritated that at least one person has dropped off the planet without word one even "go on without me!" It's not like we're doing life saving surgery, but any attempt to not act like cats I need to herd is always appreciated.
I've been randomly googling design ideas, and hopefully...ah, let's just plunge in. Why has 1, and only 1 person sent a portrait orientation picture? Poopy.
You are right, text might be easier off. You could do, like, matting for a picture, where there's a thick border around all the images, and the text could cross that, and the border could be a consisten shape and let the orientation fluctuate inside that.
Liese - do you all have any need for good condition, but used guitars?
So far I've cropped all the photos with the same ragged border, and I'm going to see how I can arrange the text. The portrait one is definitely going to break the text layout pattern, if nothing else...
These are not nail colours I like, but I find them kind of distantly pretty: [link] (turquoise and gold).
