That was his original name. He started going by Ochocinco a few years ago.

I kept wondering why the announcers called him "Chad Ochocinco," as if it were a full name, when clearly "Ochocinco" was a damn nickname. Like if I were called "Steph Teppy."

Finally someone took pity on me and told me that he had it legally changed.
