I said I'm sorry. I've made mistakes, but fear was never one of them.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

They all look like toolbelts crossed with fanny packs to me.

Yeah, I've liked those sorts of pocket belts, but figure it would make me look even more pear shaped than I am. But I could see Jilli pulling it off. Jilli, if you want more subtle (or leather) ones, Mishu (I think that's the place? In Fremont and on Broadway) has tons.

Because books.

Jilli, maybe a slimmer belt with a drawstring pocket/pouch hanging from it?

Yeah, Mishu! I should go try on the ones they've got.

That's what my current solution is. I've got a cute little velvet purse on a ribbon belt that I wear around my skirts if whatever else I'm wearing doesn't have pockets.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I kinda like the bustle version of that pocket belt, not that I'd necessarily wear it but I think Jilli could pull it off. But I'd like to see a more 80s/punk rock version made with a wide leather belt. Or the hippie/flower child version, made with a silk purse and a macrame belt! Either of those I could easily incorporate into my wardrobe.

I find more and more that I really don't want to sit on my stuff, or risk bumping it against the doorframe when I'm stepping aside to let someone through--I'm more okay stabbing myself with stuff in the lower abdomen when I sit down, but by and large, it's a small knapsack or a large knapsack for me.

I know there's no stats behind feeling safer from being robbed, but I do have that low level paranoia too, with back pockets especially.

Thinking that the message on my phone was probably just the doctor's office calling about my appointments next week, I stepped up (such a grownup!) and listened--but no. It's a call from Krav Maga Worldwide, and they owe me money??? I cannot imagine how badly their books must be kept. I got a paycheque from them a full year plus after I last taught there--not a big one, but, like, $80. Now it's 3, 4, years later, and they found more?

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Hey, remember the noisy, entitled neighbor I griped about back at the start of the year? Yesterday I had an interview with an FBI agent doing a background check on her for a security clearance.

mwah-ha-ha!

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

My folks are here for the weekend. (I got to go home early today. Whee.) Don't know what we're going to do with them, sight-seeingwise. (It'd be nice if we could revisit a museum we've been to before, since there are new exhibits all the time, but noooo.)

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

I am completely sad about David Rakoff, and hating on cancer quite a bit right now. I mean, more than usual, which is considerable already.

msbelle, if you worked near me I would take you to all the lunches all the time.

Also, random note:

Dear My Boss,

I know I'm an editor and skilled at picking up typos. However, that skill is entirely language-specific. I don't do number typos. And I would really prefer that when I say, "I'm sorry, but I really can't tell just from looking whether the listed left atrial heart mass of a non-PA-banded 4-week-old lamb should be 17 or 1.7 grams, so either you or the actual lab tech should be proofing the tables," you not get huffy and snap at me like I'm just trying to get out of number-proofing on account of sheer laziness. I'm trying to get out of it on account of not knowing what the fuck I'm doing and not wanting to screw it up.

Also, please note that none of those numbers have changed since the very first draft four months ago, and you, the actual lamb heart dissector and weigher, read and proofed and edited it yourself over and over and never noticed. Ye gods and little fishhooks, dude!

Not much love at all right now,

Me
