Bon, I asked my orthro about a letter for flying. He said they used to issue cards for people, like with hip replacements, but the TSA ignores them now.
So get a letter from your ortho if the flight's post surgery and you have a half cast, a wrap and dressings that can't be removed yet, but you will have to be wanded and body-searched, I'm afraid.

I'm getting a plate and screws in my arm Monday. What I didn't realize was that it would be permanent!
Non-permanent pins and screws and things stick out of the body. It's very awkward during the healing process.
Someone nearby just started band practice (or sound check). Drum kit and electric guitar starting at 1:30am? That's bound to make some people cranky.

Now, why I woke up at 6 and stayed up is a mystery. Why I woke up isn't that much of a mystery, because my cat was yelling in the other room. Which is actually a reassuring sign, because I think all the puking gave him a sore throat or something, but he's been pretty quiet for a while.
