"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I hate commentators. Always have, every Olympics.

Obviously too young for Jim McKay.

I'm 37. But I wouldn't know a name unless I hated them, mostly.

Yeah, McKay was not so hate-able. He was the voice of ABC's Wide World of Sports and covered most of Olympics through the 70s, and was the guy covering the Munich Olympics when the Israeli athletes were murdered.

He was non-partisan, professional, easy on the ear, well-researched and had a genuine interest in all the events and competitors.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

And what the frak is going on now? This whole thing has been like a weird trip.

There were a few times I just looked at Tim and said "...England is WEIRD."

I really liked the "Fuck yeah, NHS!" part. Seriously. I mean, the nightmares part was creepy, but I just like celebrating their healthcare system.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Excellent Jim McKay tribute. You only have to watch a few minutes to get what he was about.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Does Ryan Seacrest have any sports cred?

I find it highly funny Romney is there and the tribute is to NHS. Aw, Bhutan with the national outfit. My mom has one. She wears it for international day and halloween at school (yes, she's retired. But she still has her own office in the school and is basically a professional volunteer.)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

So I'm getting a super-fancy brand new style DVR for the new place, and I just realized I'm going to (a) have to watch everything before I move and then (b) reprogram the whole thing! My life is HARD.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

My sister is getting taunty emails and photographs from physical therapist cousin in the Olympic Village. Frankly, I think she deserves it. She would do it to me.
