Happy Birthday Kat!

Well, today was my last day at this job. Taking a long weekend to go to Confluence in Pittsburgh, then start the new job Monday. (Granted I will be making trips back to the old lab to deal with the last bits of reconciliation and other stuff.)

Good one, Kate! I kept thinking of the various chicken dances and not figuring out how to represent that on a shirt...

Man, I am far too aware of the position of my jaw and teeth, now. It's very distracting.

Also, thanks for the birthday wishes. I'm feeling remarkably blah about it. Today's been pie, pedicure, laundry, grill chicken, mop...not exactly fun stuff. Just like adulthood.

Is one of Michael Jackson's children really named Blanket? For some reason I thought he or she was renamed.

I'm pretty sure his real name is Michael, but he still goes by Blanket, apparently.

There's a newish burger place by my house I'd never been to, and I was hungry on the way home and couldn't think what to have for dinner, so I took myself out for a burger and a beer! Now I am full.

So, can I get frozen yogurt? Is it worth leaving the building for that?

My god, the in jokes of a show you don't watch--this is so confusing. I have to catch up quickly. My poor sister, having to put up with my lack of understanding this whole time. I can't do due diligence otherwise.

I really wish other people's sense of urgency matched mine right now. We are so behind on this, and the developer who hasn't done shit (at this point, I don't really care why not, fuck me) says "This is leaving it until the last minute, isn't it?"

Har, har. I have been nagging you guys for weeks. Please don't say that to me. Also, please stop having conversations where I can see you. You're making me even more anxious. Sometimes it's calming to have someone more relaxed than you, and sometimes it makes you want to punch them in the...in the places.

I was just a massive asshole to a co-worker, but I'm finding I don't even care. I've been pushing and pushing to get this development completed so we can motherfucking test it in time to deploy on Sunday. We need to have a quality assurance signoff on it before we can go into production. QA is in India, so they can work tonight, send us a signoff, and have that in our pockets tomorrow morning, good to go. But tonight is the last possible night.

I go to check the app, to see if it's ready for QA, and none of the links bring up anything. I ask the developer why not, and he tells me that the guy who left three hours ago told him he wasn't going to be able to load the content today.

"Okay, then," I tell him. "If you'd needed my help, you'd have told me about this sooner. So clearly, you have a plan. What is the plan?"

He let me stare at him for almost two minutes before I said "There's no point. We can't do anything more today. He can upload the content tomorrow, and we can see what we work out then."

"If you need my help, you can call me..."

Need your help with what, exactly? Bollixing something else up? I think I'm fine. I was pretty good at the old bollix myself before you got here, but you're making me look like quite the amateur.

And, one of the *two* tasks he put his name next to in the email where I asked people to step up--I'm just noticing he hasn't done. So, other guy? Could not have loaded content if he'd wanted to.
