Well, I'm not in the parts of Chicago where the murder rate has been through the roof.

Yeah, Chicago's already passed the 250 mark for murders this year. Are we number one? I probably don't want to know the answer to that.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

-t, that made me laugh.

Zen, it was certainly a bit of excitement, but I never felt like I was in any danger. I did wait until the shouting stopped before I approached the window. I guess I'm just a urban kid. This is my world.

Shrift, I think yes. At least my parents keep hearing about it on national news.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Congratulations, Chicago. You've already hit the number of murders in all of Australia over 2010.

Because books.

It's weird because I can picture it happening in any of the neighborhoods I lived in New York, and I never felt unsafe there. Maybe it's just because I don't know your neighborhood that it sounds alarming.

I could tell an alarming story about when I lived in shrift's neighborhood, but I'll bet shrift doesn't want to hear it.

All of June and July in Chicago has been far too similar to that heat-wave episode of Chicago Code.

Haaaa, I probably don't since I've got plenty of alarming stories of my own. But things have been so much better here since Cappleman became our Alderman! More festivals and much less gunfire! Uh, that hostage barricade situation notwithstanding.

Fair enough. Festivals! I'll actually be here for my neighborhood festival this year. I should check to see if it's close enough to my apartment to be more annoying than fun.

The evening's excitement is complete. A tow truck just took the car.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

First day back at work with boss, but I have not seen him yet. I have been busy working at my desk since 7:45. Mostly making a list of questions for him, precisely ones he never aaswered via email. He is scheduled in back to back meetings intil 1:45 and I have an all afternoon training that goes 1 -5, so I have to try and squeeze in between appointments. I will try not to snarl at him, but I don't feel great about the chances of that actually happening. Perhaps I can manage a cool fake smile that will camoflauge the glare of hate dripping from my eyes.

Because books.

It's another sort of Good Things tumblr! But we did it first.
