Just because the cabinets are new doesn't mean you can't paint them right away and change the hardware. The rest of the house, except for the ceilings, looks great.
I do not understand the current granite love.

Bleh, colds. Good luck, Maria!
I have done the errands, including getting my stuff scanned, so that's good. Just in the minute I was in the UPS store in the hotel next door, I got a glimpse of how crazy that job must be. Half the people must walk in in a panic because their presentation is on their desk in Omaha or the Powerpoint doesn't work or something, and then there's the woman who, by the time I walked in, was asking directions to the closest FedEx, and me. Anyway, good times.
I must arise from the comfy chair and venture forth to do errands. Alas.
Errands includes another stocking-up trip to the grocery, because I'm not leaving the house again until Monday.
Granite was why I chose this apartment--well, granite and stainless steel all new kitchen and bathroom. Still really like it, even if it's not as shiny as it was back then. I don't know what a downside to the granite would even be...it's so pretty.
I am currently surrounded by a lot of helplessness, and it's driving me up the wall. The least I can do is not be like that.
And I need one guy on IO9 to stop talking to me. He's so fucking disingenuous the whole time, and keeps trying to excuse stupid questions with shit like "Well, I don't know you. You could be stupid." Seriously dude...back off.
did you read bloggess' anniversary gift to her hubby. this is great (and the update is the capper).

You could say, "Well, I don't know you. You could need a punch to the face."
Mucinex will thin out mucus any time, so if your head is all stuffed up with Ick, the mucinex will help by thinning it out and making it easier to get out of your head (the downside *can* be a runny nose, because when the Ick is thinned out, it can run).
Oh, I think my desk at work needs a Hypnotoad!
Want me to try to snag you one, or do you want to wait till August 2? (Spoiler warning: I may be too busy/lazy to mail it to you before August 2 anyway.)
Thanks for the offer, but I'll wait (especially since you're going to be too busy/lazy). I enjoy the thrill of the hunt.
If your (my) idea of the perfect kitchen is like this:
then I guess granite is just so far outside my personal aesthetic that while I can see that people like it, I do not want it for myself-- it seems so cold and uninviting. Also, like Beverly said, it sort of reminds me of dead people.
Sophia, how likely is it that you will find a retro kitchen in a house in a desirable area or in good condition? If the rest of thr place is good, you can always work toward making the kitchen what you want. painted cabinets as suggested and if you can sell the granite, formica counter tops are not expensive.
Any kind of dark countertop bothers me, because you can't see if they're dirty. I'd probably get really good butcher block, if I was designing a kitchen. But my ideal kitchen is sort of circa 1900 with white-painted cabinets and wood floors and a high ceiling (and, um, stainless steel appliances).
