Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Anderson Cooper is Ben??

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

So you're saying Anderson Cooper and gay are somehow related?

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Zucchini muffins are practically vegetables, right?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

EAT A FREAKING SALAD, WHITEY.

(I mean yes, yes they are.)

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

So The Family Zmayhem took a road trip this weekend. On Saturday we drove the four hours from SF to Reno, and celebrated MiL's 70th birthday, and met Matilda's new baby cousin, Amelia Rose.

Stayed at Circus Circus, and did more family time in the morning with lots of facetime with the baby. Emmett and Matilda were vying for most cuddling time with Amelia.

Then back on the road by noon, and we stopped over in Sacramento to see my best-man and one of my oldest friends, Alex, and his wife Kris and their newly adopted son Kai. (Their daughter, India, was away visiting friends, which is too bad as she is only slightly older than Matilda and they have many similar interests.)

So more baby face time though this was a very active almost one year old, and back home again. Kind of road bedraggled after crossing the Sierra twice in two days, but glad to see family and good friends.

Emmett's got an all-star game tonight and his baseball schedule is about to get very heavy through July.

Muffins are better than salad.

Well, that's true, although my beet-goat cheese-avocado salad last night was pretty awesome.

I hope everyone stays cool and safe today!

And happy birthday, Frank!

I watched more Unusuals last night, and while I appreciate the dorky guys and they're getting some good writing, I wouldn't mind more focus on Amber Tamblyn's character. She's basically just being a good cop, without much in the way of character development as compared to Jeremy Renner, who's rapidly becoming the moral center of the show. They're not selling him as a freak: owning a diner does not make you a freak.

Not always! In fact, I'd choose a salad over a muffin four times out of five.

Happy birthday, Frank! Buy yourself a Bava Blu-Ray!

Oh, and Calibre is like iTunes for ebooks, but better. It's the way I manage my ebook collection, lets you tag and sort in a bunch of ways, and you can import books from Project Gutenberg or fanfiction from FFN or AO3 or wherever, as well. And if you Google carefully, there's a plugin that allows you to convert books purchased from Amazon into different formats and load them on any device you like.
