I see the Weather Channel has the record at 109. It's still 105 now.

It's down to 102° here, but was around 106° earlier today. I passed on exercising in favor of living until tomorrow.
I couldn't go out anyway. It's a code red smog alert creeping towards "extremely unhealthy," which is hell on the asthma.
It's currently 68°, overcast and slightly muggy with rain showers here in Seattle. If I could send any of that to you heat wave folks, I would.
It's 88 here, but 30% humidity means as long as I stay where the air is moving I'm comfortable.
In many foot chase scenes, the wacky not-by-the-books one takes a shortcut to wherever the bad guy was going, and then more often than not does a flying tackle and knocks him to the ground.
Why does that work so often? How many shows have the bad guy hanging a right shortly after cool dude has chosen "alternate" route.
And it's not convincing that there was only possible destination of the runner, but he doesn't know the shortcuts to get to it--I would love a "I"ll go head him off" scene ended up with an exhausted partner who had to subdue the suspect by himself, because cool dude got turned around and ended up in the parking lot, and he has to start over.
Or, at least, running cheerily off in the opposite direction, and then fifteen minutes later, you realise you missed the whole thing since YOU'RE NOT FOLLOWING HIM.
The only time the alternate is good is if the main protagonist needs a word with the villain, before his partner Timmy No-Good arrives--to discuss that dark part of him that gives him angst, and he's scared his partner will find you. The partner breezes all cool calm and collected (he stopped to wash his face at a water cooler so he can act all slick, but now he;s a little suspicious.
Still, really, do police forces encourage partners to do that? And how's working out in the real world.
Skipping a bunch to post from my dying Blackberry. Count me amongst those with no power since last night and not likely to get it before Monday. Tree fell on power lines across the street and it's still just hanging there. Temps over 100dF and another storm coming in. No Like. We're okay, though. Everyone be safe!
I only went outside as far as the back patio to hang out clothes to dry and then put out sun tea to make. drapes stayed pulled in the rest of the house and air stayed on. I assume it was hot, had no desire to test that.
God, Jilli, reading that made me want to weep. And we're not as bad off as other places here in Utah, it's "only" 96 and very low humidity. Though I did get sick from the heat earlier today.
