Turns out most of my neighborhood doesn't have power. Basically, everyone that retained power during Irene is without and vice versa. I've issued AC and fridge use invites. South of 33rd is out, east side of my street as well, State Police helicopter is circling (this is weird. I'm used to City, but State?) and there were trees down on the walk to market, as well as the stoplights all along 33rd, where Baltimoreans demonstrated they don't get 4-way stops.

And there go the State Police mosquitos again.

I guess I'll clean upstairs this morning. It's cooler up there.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Sounds like it was a hell of a night for your region -- my friend in the 'panhandle' of WV reports that most of his county is out, plus major trees down.

It's just going to be beastly hot here.

Aaaand no haircut today. Salon is without power, they're just gonna call it for the day. OK, I guess I'll go do my shopping and rearrange my day.

Like I said last night, Irene lasted longer but was less intense. And we're to expect more storms today and tomorrow.

OK, going to fill up my water bottles and go do my shopping. Looks like the county faired a little better on the power issues judging by the outage map. City and south took the brunt.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Holy crap - this is my parents front yard after the storm last night. They got REALLY lucky - it missed the car and the power lines (and more importantly, FIOS). Took out a bit of the chimney, but it's not exactly a working fireplace this time of year.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I can't see the picture, Jessica.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Isn't a teacup-grip, with the body positioned at a diagonal, to provide the least amount of target to shoot at, generally the accepted beginner shooting position, with a handgun at least?

The isosceles two-handed square-to-target stance is the modern standard, but I think a modified weaver is still better for low upper-body strength. The female cop on Person of Interest does look pretty solid, but most of the rest of the people are just filling the air with shot.

We're supposed to set an all-time record high today. Sigh.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

so it will be 200 degrees there, yes?

My mom might have posted it friends-only - does this link work?

It's a giant oak tree branch covering my parents' front yard.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

OMGosh, Jess. I'm glad noone was hurt.
