Gods, the things I've done employment wise because of Hubby's health . . . He's got Medicaid, but having my insurance cover him has always been essential, to.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Even if the ACA only required insurance companies to take people regardless of pre-existing conditions, it would be worth it.

Except the individual mandate is needed to avoid adverse selection (as otherwise healthy people would not buy health insurance until they get sick, which goes against the very idea of insurance).

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Roberts is the Severus Snape of the Supreme Court.

He voted for healthcare because he's always been secretly in love with Obama's mom?

Where is the damn "LIKE" button???

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Stolen from a friend who stole it from somewhere else:

You are not required to buy health insurance. If you do not, you pay more taxes. If you do not have children, you pay more taxes, if you do not have a mortgage, you pay more taxes, if you do not get married, you pay more taxes, if you do not donate to charity, you pay more taxes, etc. I see no one claiming that the government is REQUIRING you to do any of these things. It is the exact same thing.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That's not a puppy; it's a Muppet.

It's the dragon (?) from Neverending Story!

I am glad I don't have political people I disagree with on my FB.

P-C, that's a great quote.

And man, buying a house is a great way to save on your taxes. IJS. It's a complete scam in favor of homeowners, but nobody sees it that way, even now, when so many people have lost so much in the wake of the housing crisis. Americans still have this almost pathological need to own real property.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Ginger, I've been saying for ages now that actualfax universal health care would be the most pro-business thing imaginable, for just that reason.

Of course, the biggest ranters I'm seeing in my fb stream (all military and busy spreading the "welcome to the socialist republic of amerika!" meme) already have government-provided health care, so it somehow just doesn't get through...

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Yeah, I don't chat for fun either. But it's a useful phone substitute at work, and since you can record for faulty memories.

I am over the moon at how poorly thought out this project is from a technical point of view. It's stunning. I know I asked them months ago if we needed new stuff from the DBAs, and everyone told me no, definitely not, ita ! Don't be silly.

We're so fucked. We're up against the wall in two projects--one with insufficient hard drive storage, and one with no database environment.

And it's my fault, somehow. Despite HAVING ASKED and being told one thing, that's the load the project manager assumes. I am not looking forward to facing management today.

Like, seriously, making sure the destination has enough drive space for the files you're copying--I was sliding along assuming that's the sort of thing you check before you ask someone else to copy for you. No, which is why I was on the phone at 3AM Sunday morning.

I'm at the point of (rudely) asking "So, if you had the database, what would you do now? And after that? And then? And then?" because she doesn't seem to grasp the idea of not being blindsided at the last possible moment.

I'm tired of this. It's been a horrible week.
