Fred: So you don't worry that it's possible for someone to send out a biological or electronic trigger that effectively overrides your own sense of ideals and values and replaces them with an alternative coercive agenda that reduces you to a mindless meat puppet? Shopkeeper: Wow. People used to think that I was paranoid.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh, so I finally got my second eShakti dress (this one), and it's like a quarter-inch too small. I am 5-10 lbs higher than I'd like to be, so do I just keep it? I can't decide! I would never buy it in a store the way things are right now, but I'd have to pay to mail it back.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Happy birthday JZ! May it be filled with cupcakes!

msbelle is on fire this morning. Someone book that act in a comedy club. I hear they are sorely in need of actual talent.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Greetings folks! I did a threadsuck and caught up.

sending out general coping vibes and flame retardant vibes where appropriate.

A brief update: I am certain I am in Hell. I think I'm in the elevator that stops between the 5th circle of hell (Anger) and the 7th (Violence). And then goes back again. I am trying to find a rental home, and I have 4 days to do it, while trying to finish an academic paper by the July 1 deadline, and I'm just all around dealing with periodic assholery.

It is so frightening how few homes we have seen suit our purposes. This feels like extreme goldilocks: too dirty, too big, too small, neighborhood is sketchy, too far away from work, getting stood up by realtors. We have two possibilities right now (neither of which is ideal) and we are resting our hopes on a secret property that only the realtor knows about that we will see later today.

I visit my new work and have most of my office keys but before we leave town (and mind you, we still don't have a place to live), I need to decide how I want my office set up, what second course I'll be teaching this fall (though I asked for a syllabus of the proposed course last week so I could review it in time), and my new boss wants to press me on some details regarding an optional service assignment.

I do not have the mindspace to deal with all this shit. I really don't. I'm about ready to say fuck it to everything and get a house-sized tent with a full kitchen and granite countertops at Walmarts (don't tell me the Weasley tent is not real and not sold at Walmarts. I'm counting on that as a backup plan).

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

ah Burrell, thanks. I am work avoidant and tired, so pretty silly today.

Art Crawl!!!

Yikes, le nubian - as my friend S. says - it's like you're trying to fit 50 lbs of shit in a 10 lb bag.

Jesse - cute dress. I have no idea. Obviously, hanging in your closet it would take up space and is the cost of mailing it really more than the amt you'd get back from the store?

That dress is cute Jesse, but not sure what I'd advise. I had a cute skort once, theoretically, except when I put it on I look like a sausage stuffed into tennis togs. I think I wore it like twice, with a long shirt over it to hide the sausagey parts, before I finally decided to donate it.

In other online shopping news, I bought clothes for Hawaii! On sale even! Board shorts and matching bikini top, plus a rash guard. So I'll be dressed for the beach but still covered up.

Oh man, le nubian. You will make it through! And you may not find an ideal place to live, but you will find some place, and it will be temporary. (One year is temporary.)

omg that dress is so cute. did you find someone for the other dress?

Sold it on eBay! For more than I paid for it, but less than I had with it in the closet. Also sold that black dress with the pink taffeta underskirt, when I remembered I wore it for NYE 1999.

Obviously, hanging in your closet it would take up space and is the cost of mailing it really more than the amt you'd get back from the store?

No, I'd get more back, but on principle! I hate spending $7 or whatever to not have it.
